The Bisbee High School Construction class worked with StepUp Bisbee/Naco to build shelving for the Copper Queen Library's new Annex location in San Jose.
The Friends of the Copper Queen Library supports local authors by purchasing books with funds donated by the Karen Justice Foundation and the Bisbee Foundation.
The City of Bisbee Public Works Department broke ground on the CQL's Children's Literacy/STEAM Patio at the CQ Library Annex in San Jose. The project is grant funded by the Arizona Community Foundation and the Arizona State Library.
The Copper Queen Library received a grant from the Bisbee Arts Commission to have a mural painted at our CQ Library Annex. The design was conceptualized in a children's workshop and then painted by local artist Steve Miller and Suzanne McKee.
The COVID-19 Pandemic caused the Friends of the Copper Queen Library to take their annual chocolate tasting fundraiser online. Patrons purchased chocolate from See's Candies to donate to local front-line workers.
The FireWise Garden was constructed by Old Bisbee FireWise through a USDA grant to showcase fire-resistant plants in front of the CQ Library Annex in San Jose.
Each year, staff builds a holiday book tree for our patrons. Since the library building was closed to the public during 2020's holiday, we decided to build it on the CQL's second floor veranda so that all could enjoy.
The Copper Queen Tool Lending Library opened in March of 2021. Located at our Annex location in San Jose, the program allows patrons to check out tools to use at home -- for free!
The National Votes for Women Trail is collecting sites from all over our country to allow us to tell the untold story of suffrage for all women, of all ethnicities, that extends well past the passage of the 19th amendment.
The Friends of the Copper Queen Library sponsored the construction of a library sign for the CQL in honor of us being named Best Small Library in America in 2019. The sign was designed and constructed by Bisbee artist Ben Dale.
The Library was able to refinish our bathrooms during the COVID-19 Pandemic with new tile and custom-designed wallpaper made from historic Bisbee photographs from the CQL's collection. The wallpaper was designed by local artist Bridget Shanahan.
The COVID-19 Pandemic provided the CQL with the opportunity to get much needed work done on the building, including a new roof, courtesy of the City of Bisbee Public Works Department.
