Description:
Route 66 turns 100 years old in 2026 and author and travel writer Roger Naylor will discuss the Mother Road’s history and cultural significance. Arizona is the state that saved Route 66 and Naylor will tell that remarkable story. Learn about the astounding scenery, small town getaways, and mom-and-pop eateries that are still found along the Arizona portion of the Mother Road. If the Grand Canyon is the heart of Arizona, then Route 66 is the main artery. Books will be for sale following the presentation, including Naylor’s brand-new Arizona Route 66 Road Trip, and his best-selling Arizona Kicks on Route 66.

Description:
Stories from the Boundary Waters. On a timeline from the visible rocks from 4.8 billion years ago as they hold like basins, the glacial melt of the ten thousand lakes, where loons haunt the night and wolves and bears and beavers and moose meander. As a Park Ranger at Voyageurs National Park, this presentation will
include geology, the dark of the north woods, a gold rush, the 355-year life of the Hudson Bay Company, the mound builders and the path of the Ojibwe and the only female Voyageur to secretly paddle her way across what we now know today as Canada.

From Border to Border, Candace has worked as a National Park Ranger, a field scientist, lover of trees and wolves and sometimes called the bear whisperer Come join for an hour of adventure where the woods are so dark, they are known to drive man mad.

Description:
Kaitlyn Tyler will present some of the Sonoran Desert's most common invasive plants/noxious weeds, how to identify them, how to remove them, and other ways to help protect fragile desert ecosystems.

Kaitlyn Tyler has lived in Arizona since 2007 and fell in love with the Sonoran Desert and Sky Islands. Started work in conservation in 2019, before the Desert Museum, worked with Fish and Wildlife, Coronado National Forest, and obtained a bachelor's degree from UA in Natural Resources.

In this workshop, Gretchen will lead us through the process of creating a unique rubber stamp, from understanding negative space, to carving and printing. This workshop is for poets who will be creating chapbooks, to create a cover art stamp for a limited edition chapbook. If you have a drawing or concept prepared ahead of time, it will help to bring that to the workshop.

This workshop will introduce the basics of design and layout of the text block interior of a book, using Publisher to demonstrate tips and tricks to format your text. Come prepared with what application you will use for layout. If you do not have access to desktop publishing applications, you can use the CQL public computers to format your manuscript. Interiors for the chapbooks will be printed by the Copper Queen Library.
